Lunch for Mamas for Mamas

This Saturday, August 15, Derrick's Steakhouse is opening its doors for a cause bigger than a great meal.

With more than 10,000 people evacuated from the Bald Range wildfire, on top of families already displaced by the Bradley Creek fire near Vernon, our community has been through a lot this month. So we're doing what restaurants do best: bringing people together around a table.

What's Happening

Derrick's is hosting a Community Lunch Fundraiser on Saturday, August 15, during the city's Kelowna Made community festival downtown. The menu features an Okanagan-inspired burger and fries, and here's how it works:

-Wildfire evacuees eat free. No catch, no conditions, just a hot meal on the house.

-Everyone else pays what they can, with all proceeds going directly to Mamas for Mamas to support wildfire relief efforts.

As Derrick's owner Ross Derrick put it, when something like this happens in your community, you start thinking about what you can actually do to help. For us, that meant opening our doors and offering what we do best.

Why This Matters

Restaurants have always been gathering places, spaces where people connect over food regardless of what's going on outside. This event is about giving evacuee families one less thing to worry about for an afternoon, while giving the rest of the community a meaningful way to pitch in.

Every dollar raised goes toward Mamas for Mamas, an organization providing direct support to families affected by the wildfires.
